Questions?
We try to keep everything as simple as possible but we are sure you'll have some questions and we'll try to answer them here. Just let us know about any other questions you have.
Barcodes and ISRC Codes
Every album and track must be assigned a unique code so that sales can be tracked and correctly reported. This includes ensuring that the writers get paid the royalties due for each download sale.
For albums this code is the unique product code (UPC) more commonly knows as a barcode. You should have this for any release you intend to sell through any retailer and you can get then from GS1 (with a membership fee) or often your distributor will arrange one.
For tracks the code is the International Standard Recording Code (ISRC). These are free from PPL and you should get one for every track in order to register with PPL, MCPS and the other collection agencies or you will miss out on royalties.
If you want we can provide you with a barcode and ISRC codes for each of your releases. The administration fee for this will be £10 per album for the barcode and £10 per album for the ISRC codes.
Payments
Every month we allocate all our income to our clients and pay all that are due over £50 at the end of the month. If you are due less than £50 this will be carried forward to the next month. Some digital retailers account on a monthly basis, some on an quarterly basis can can take from 4 weeks to 4 months from money to get from the retailer to us and on to you. Once you are registered with us you can track the balance of your account any time and also access detailed sales reports.
Photographs, Biographies and Website Links
In order for us to maximise your sales we need a little more than just the music. The more additional material you can provide to use in the form of photographs, news, gig listings and any other interesting content the better.
As a bare minimum you must have a photograph and a short biography. This is a huge help to us and to our retailers and will help us help you. Will not distribute your music until we have this.
As we are in the business of selling downloads you also need a website so that your fans can find you and then find your downloads. Even if you just have a myspace or facebook page that will do fine. You'll need to link to your downloads from your site and we recommend the best way once we see your site.
We can provide a website for you using the promotional material you provide us along with all the information we have on your releases.
If we provide the site, or you have a myspace or facebook page then we strongly recommend you register a domain name to use with this. We can point you in the right direction and it need not cost more than £10/year.
